- Does it work in total darkness?
- It needs a trace of ambient light — starlight is enough. In a sealed cave with zero photons, no camera-based system can see. Everywhere else, Crown & Gavel works.
- Is it really running on my phone?
- Yes. The model is compiled to run on the Apple Neural Engine. Nothing leaves your device — no cloud, no account required to use the camera.
- Which iPhones are supported?
- iPhone 14 Pro and newer at launch. Older devices can run a lower-framerate preview mode, coming after the initial release.
- Will video and photos look real, or synthetic?
- Reconstructions are faithful to the actual scene — colors, textures, and geometry are recovered from real sensor data, not invented. Extreme low-light scenes have a soft, painterly quality.
- How much will it cost?
- Pricing will be announced closer to launch. Waitlist members get an introductory price and the first TestFlight invites.
- Is this legal to use everywhere?
- Yes. Unlike military-grade image intensifier tubes, Crown & Gavel is a software app with no export restrictions.
